•    The Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil will mark Labonte’s 21st NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Phoenix International Raceway.  He’s secured three top-5 finishes, 9 top-10 finishes and completed more than 6,500 laps at the 1.0-mile track.
•    This No. 71 TRG Motorsports Chevrolet, chassis number 243, was last seen on-track in Kansas where it qualified in 26th position with Labonte behind the wheel.

Behind the Wheel – Bobby Labonte
“Phoenix is a great track and I’ve had a lot of success there.  It’s probably a place that a team like ours can perform well because it’s not so aero dependent.  It’s a flat track, different turns and it comes down to someone with good knowledge of the cars and experience with the track.  Slugger and the guys have that and I’ve got some good experience too. Hopefully that will help us. “
“A lot of this race will come down to track position.  It’s hard to pass.  Pit stops and qualifying will be important.  You want to start near the front and stay there.  You’ll see a lot of guys working on pit strategy too.  Two tires or maybe fuel only will be discussed a lot late in the race.”
On the differences between racing in Phoenix during the day and at night:  “The day race, the track is slick.  We’re going to slide a little bit more and the track won’t have as much grip. The night race is great with all the grip, so this race is more a challenge.  You have to be patient and let the car and track come to you and see how your car handles.”
